Dia Center for the Arts | Beacon, NY

Project Description

Dia Beacon is a contemporary art museum known for its large-scale, minimalist gallery. To improve visitors’ experience, they required soft closing restroom door hinges that fit the museum’s aesthetics. Plus, they also wanted the doors to hold open.

Their 12 hollow wall metal doors are 7 ft tall, 2’4”–3’0” wide, 2 inch thick, and weigh about 80 lbs each. With Waterson hydraulic self closing door hinges, the doors close smoothly and quietly while keeping the modern look of the museum.

Additionally, they also installed Waterson door stoppers that hold the door at a 90-degree angle and prevent it from hitting the wall.
