Commercial Back Door Concerns
Common materials for commercial back doors are usually robust steel or metal to suit industrial operations. However, steel doors are heavy, which limits the choice of durable hinges. These doors, although not as frequently accessed as front doors, endure more industrial wear and tear. Ensuring they operate efficiently with minimal maintenance is challenging. Additionally, they must comply with industrial building codes.
Heavy Duty Hinges for Commercial Steel Doors
For environments demanding security and durability, Waterson’s commercial steel door hinges are a superior choice. Designed specifically for commercial settings, these stainless steel hinges combine exceptional strength with compliance to critical safety standards. Here’s why Waterson stand out:
- Durability: Surpasses 1,000,000 cycles in durability tests.
- Weight Capacity: Capable of supporting over 260 lbs with a set of three hinges.
- Hinge Code Application: Meets California Building Code 2016 (1126A.4.2 Spring hinges), ADA 404.2.8.2 standards, and even more!
- Energy-efficient: Incorporate a buffering feature that slows down the door’s closing speed as it approaches the closed position
- Hold-Open: Doors stay open at 90 degrees and automatically close when pushed below 80 degrees.
- Unrestricted Opening: Maintains the door’s full opening range without limitations.
However, kindly note that this feature does not apply to fire-rated doors.
Waterson hinges perform best in a swing zone from 0° to 120°. Whereas our hydraulic hybrid hinge open limit is 120°, the mechanical can be opened beyond 120° up to 180°.
However, we do not suggest keeping the mechanical over 120° for long periods; frequently extending beyond 120° will damage the mechanism and decrease its lifespan. Please note that excessive use over 120° will not be covered by warranty.
