St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church | Coeur d’Alene, ID
Project Description
Founded in 1890, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church is the oldest parish in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This historic Romanesque-style building serves as an active, growing congregation. Recently, the church replaced the hinge hardware for its historic arched doors featuring glass panels and existing full-mortise cutouts. The doors are arched, 36″ W x 8′ H, 2.5″ thick solid oak, with glass in the arched top section.
Waterson recommended its heavy-duty 6-inch door hinge to replace the old hardware. The hinge fits the arch doors’ tall frames, heavy glass loads, and precise mortise dimensions. The hydraulic soft-close mechanism, adjustable closing force and speed, and 3-hour fire rating deliver controlled, quiet door performance to protect the building’s occupants while preserving the architectural character of the century-old parish.
