Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort | Carterville, IL

Project Description

Walker’s Bluff Casino Resort is a 190,000 sq ft gaming and hospitality destination in Carterville, Illinois, which opened in 2023. During construction, Baxter Construction needed self-closing hardware for the security gates at two entrances onto the gaming floor, where the gates had to swing completely out of the doorway to deliver maximum clear opening width for guests and staff. The project called for three hinges per gate on 1-3/4″ thick gate leaves, a total of two sets, with the hardware finished to match the casino’s interior design.

Waterson recommended the K51L swing clear self-closing hinge because its L-shaped leaves provide extra clearance to allow wide equipment to pass through a doorway, so the gate swings fully clear of the opening instead of narrowing it. The hinges combine the swing clear geometry with a built-in, adjustable mechanical closer, which secures the gaming floor entrances automatically after every pass without surface-mounted closers that add bulk and maintenance.
