ROSS Dress For Less is one of America’s leading off-price retailers, operating over 1,500 locations across the U.S. and Guam, offering discounted clothing, footwear, home décor, and accessories.

Waterson hinges have been specified directly by ROSS corporate headquarters as the standard hardware solution for their store design program — applied nationwide across all locations, not limited to any single region or project.

The Challenge

As part of ROSS’s store layout, pony wall doors at the checkout (cashier) area are subject to constant, high-frequency use throughout each business day. The original door hardware installed at these locations failed within six months, creating ongoing maintenance headaches and costly repair expenses that were unsustainable at scale.

The recurring hardware failures disrupted store operations and placed an unnecessary burden on facilities management teams across multiple locations.

The Solution

After evaluating alternatives, ROSS’s store design team selected Waterson self-closing hinges to replace the failing hardware on the pony wall checkout doors.
