Project Description
Founded in 1937, the Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club is a historic oceanfront private club in Santa Barbara, California. The project required a reliable self-closing hinge solution for two custom double gates, with a total of four gate leaves fabricated in architectural metal. Because the gates exceeded the size and weight limits of a standard residential configuration, and the site sits directly in a salt air coastal environment, the hardware needed both heavy duty load capacity and marine-grade corrosion resistance.
After reviewing each gate leaf’s height, width, thickness, and weight, Waterson recommended the K51MP-450 self closing gate hinge in 316 stainless steel, configured with five hinges per leaf instead of the standard two-hinge set to carry the load and close smoothly. The result is reliable self-closing and adjustable closing speed for safety, lasting resistance to ocean air, a clean look with no bulky surface closers, and quick delivery from stock.
