End Door Slamming With the Best Spring Loaded Hinges

When it comes to ensuring doors close smoothly and safely, two popular options emerge: spring hinges and door closers. Both claim to deliver self-closing functionality, but the better choice seems only one: Spring loaded hinges, which combine fluid motion, space-savings, and elegance, solving the issues of door slamming and bulky design.

Two Effective Anti Slam Solutions

Spring loaded hinge systems offer two speed control options: mechanical and hydraulic hybrid. Mechanical uses friction for reliable control in harsh exterior environments. Hydraulic hybrid, on the other hand, provides smooth control through oil flow, ideal for breezy environments and doors without latches.

ANSI/BHMA Finish Codes

At Waterson, we provide a variety of aesthetically pleasing Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) finishes on our stainless steel closer hinges. These include Satin Stainless Steel (US32D), Satin Brass (US4), Dark Satin Bronze (US10B), and Flat Black (US19). This finish has gone through the process of Titanium Ion Plating, which improves the performance of heavy duty stainless steel by increasing wear, scratch, and corrosion resistance.

Whether you’re looking for a specific type of hinge for a residential, commercial, or industrial project, Waterson has got you covered.

We recommend that you install them based on the stickers affixed to each individual hinge (top, middle, and bottom). This will help you follow our adjustment instructions.

Waterson hinges are very easy to install. You simply need the following three items:

  • 3mm and 5mm hex wrenches (included)
  • Spreader bar (included with double spring (DS) hinge)
  • Philips screwdriver

Please contact us directly concerning doors over the above specifications.

To adjust spring-loaded hinges:

  • To adjust the door closing speed, turn 3mm hex nut clockwise (–) to reduce speed or counterclockwise (+) to increase speed.
  • To adjust the Hazard Zone (HAZ), turn 5mm hex nut clockwise (–) to shift HAZ towards zero degrees or counterclockwise (+) to shift towards 50˚ maximum position.
